Books - Reviews and Recommendations

On this and the next pages we will introduce you to books that in my opinion are valuable assests to work with or learn from. In most cases I have the book myself so I can give you a pretty good idea about the value of the book.

Synopsis

Martin Evening does not require any introductions. His latest book for CS5 is a welcome addition to my library. I am reasonably seasoned in photoshop practices but reading his book immediately put me on notice how many hidden gems of photoshop moves are as yet undiscovered by me. I need some more time to digest his book but at first glance it offers me a "workflow" of how to read the book. It is easy to select the information you want to know more about. The book is wel structured, similar to how a photographer works .

His insight in the way how photoshop works and the explanations why it works make this book very special. Not only do you learn about photoshop, you also learn how to work with it...with tips, examples, short cuts etc. This book will stay with me - you will not be able to borrow it from me.....

The DVD has movies, pdf's and many - some full size - illustrations to work with in your own time to follow Martin's work methods.

His tutorial to clear cut hair is very explanatory, but I would still use my Vertus Fluid mask to do in 5 minutes what he does in half an hour... He makes it look very straightforward, but below his work method lies a whole lot of knowledge - most of which I have not yet digested.

The book has a coupon code to purchase Pixel Genius Photo Kit sharpener and/or Color at a discount, these plug ins are just the cream of the cake...

About 10 years ago Martin helped to setup a mailing list for professional digital imagers, called Prodig. This mailing list is open to all and is free to join. For more information visit: www.prodig.org.
